A customer ordered a centerpiece to be placed on a buffet table. The celebration was for her mother in law who was turning 100. She wanted the arrangement to have some height.
Found a container that would lift arrangement up of table to provide room for Julie Zlogar's wonderful platters of food.
In smaller containers I would use a lattice of tape at the top of the vase or oasis. But this container was too large for tape or oasis, chicken wire provided a good structure to hold stems in place.
I cut and rolled a piece of chicken wire slightly larger than container. Gentle pressure and tucking in edges until the wire fit into the vase.
I started with the woody vines to set my proportions.
Making sure stems found their way all the way through the wire nest and reached the bottom of the vase. This added stability to the arrangement.
Now it was time to play. Added water 2/3rds of the way to the top. Started with taller flowers and worked my way down to the rim of the vase.
